Hemprich's Hornbill is found in Northern Kenya, North-east Uganda, Sudan and Ethiopia. It favours arid dry bush in rocky areas, and cliffs where it nests in stone fissures.
This bird is probably a recently-fledged male showing a rather short dusky dark bill which is becoming red at the tip and fresh plumage. Adults have a scruffy-look with males sporting a dull red bill and females a dusky-almost black bill.
