A Sunbittern standing in a dried up creek bed at the end of the epic 2014 Casanare drought. Although you can't tell from the photo, the bird was almost impossible to see in the shadows, but its clicking gave it away.
A heron-like bird only closely related to the [Kagu], an obscure bird from an island near Australia. The Sunbittern is secretive but not near as difficult to see as most rails and crakes.
